I was elected to leadership nine months after joining the legislature, and have served as the House Majority Caucus Co-Chair ever since. That job entails assigning offices and floor desks, and feeding hungry legislators on long days and nights. Plus, we plan all the events for the Dem Caucus. I like to think of myself as the den mother/camp counselor — a role that fits me perfectly! 

 

The legislature is in session every year from mid-January to mid-May, and during that time we debate and vote on hundreds of bills, and most importantly, pass the state budget. The rest of the year we go home and work in our communities, meet with constituents, and research and craft legislation for the coming year.

 

It’s the most meaningful job I’ve ever had, and I am honored and privileged to serve my community in this capacity.
